Crohn's Disease

My son was diagnosed with Crohn's a few years ago. He wants to stop taking the meds his doctor has prescribed. What supplements should he take? He is staying away from fried foods and fast foods. What other dietary changes should he be making?

Your son should  avoid all

Your son should  avoid all products containg milk or milk derivatives, especially casein (milk protein) - this includes  ice cream, yogurt, and all cheese (including the many vegetarian types of cheese which actually contain casein added for flavor/melting characteristics.  READ LABELS!  Cow's milk protein  is a leading cause of gut irritation,  inflammation  and allergy.  Milk and casein are poorly digested - and the problem usually begins when an infant is introduced to the cow's milk/protein instead of breastmilk.  It is not enoiugh to take "lactaid" or some other digestive aid but if unwilling to give up the milk products, to ahead and give the enzymes a try.
