Vit D

After reading all the recent press about vitamin d, i decided to start taking it daily.  I'm taking a gram a day, which is the recco'd amount and I have to say.  I'm a little shocked at how much better i feel.  I mean, i wasn't depressed or down (or at least I thought I wasn't) and yet I feel almost giddy now.  Its a bit odd.  It's really altered my mood in a way that makes me feel just calmer and more focused too.  Maybe it's the placebo affect, I'm not exactly sure, but whatever it is, it's working pretty well.  I'd really reccomend if you have any issues around this time of year, give it a go.  You'd be surprised.  Hell, I sure am.  Anyway, more later. In unrelated news, I just can't seem to stomach wheatgrass.  That stuff is godawful!

so far so good with the

so far so good with the bigger doses of the vitamins this winter. I don't want to claim a victory too early but it's coming up on Christmas and no cold, no flu, no spiraling seasonal blues. Feeling like I'm on the Help Your Self train.

Can't you get Vitamin D from

Can't you get Vitamin D from exposing your skin to sunlight for half an hour a day?

Hi Jesusregarding vitamin D

Hi Jesusregarding vitamin D synthesis and UV exposure - it all depends where you live and your complexion and how much of your body is being exposed. In an ideal setting everyone can make the same amount of vitamin D: genetics vary but humans can make between 10,000 - 15,000 IU. If someone has very pale skin, they can make that in about 15mins - for someone with black skin it takes up to 2 hrs. Supplementation is needed for most people, even those living in sunny climates as most of us are in doors a lot etc.The best resource for vitamin D on the net is the non-profit vitamin  D councilwww.vitamindcouncil.org
