Spinach that taste like chocolate?

There is something seriously wrong with the world when we can’t appreciate all that nature has given us. Nature has given us a bounty of fruits and vegetables and not just one boring variety of each that we know in North America. Did you know that there are over 300 varieties of potatoes? How many can you find in your local grocery store?

The Globe and Mail has an article about Monsanto and other industrial food giants wanting to make vegetables taste better (Full article). What an outrageous idea! I see nothing wrong with natural food – it taste great! These Agr-giant companies don’t care about our health, or healthy food. They only care about making bigger and more. What they develop must be loaded with preservatives (and other disgusting things) to with stand shipping across the country, sometimes even the world. It’s just a business to them, they have no connection to the land at all.

They already genetically engineer tomatoes that have absolutely no flavour, no nutritional value and last forever in your kitchen (because they are loaded with preservatives). Organic fruits and vegetables taste wonderful and are packed with numerous vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals to keep us healthy. Tampering with what we eat is a bad idea. They really have no idea with the long term effects of genetic engineering is – on us and on the land.

I love my local farmer markets and will continue going there – at least I know that what I am getting is the best quality produce possible and totally natural. What will you do?

HA! Chocolate tasting

HA! Chocolate tasting Spinach!
I love it. It goes against everything healthy, and yet, as we all know, there will be tons of people lining up to buy this kind of item in their local store (as long as it is cheap of course!).

Saddest part is that they will eat it and be happy, until it causes an imbalance, leads to disease, and then are up in arms because it caused cancer!!

I'm sticking with my spinach - the way Popeye used to eat it. He lived till 120 yrs old, didn't he??!! :)
