Recipe for weight management: High protein + low GI carbs

A diet high in proteins and low in refined starches such as white bread and white rice resulted in a 24 pound weight loss over 8 weeks in overweight adults. Researchers from the Faculty of Life Sciences (LIFE), University of Copenhagen, compared official European dietary recommendations with a diet based on more recent knowledge on the importance of proteins and carbohydrates for appetite regulation.Details of the project, code-name "Diogenes," appear in the November 25 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.

I lost 60 lbs by severely

I lost 60 lbs by severely curtailing intake of fast acting carbs and by eating more clean protein and good fats. I started using a glucose meter to monitor my blood sugar and learned that I was pre-diabetic. Not wanting to develop type 2 diabetes, and wanting badly to jettison weight that I couldn't seem to lose no matter how much I worked out, I began logging my blood sugar and my food intake as well as exercise.I learned how different foods impacted my blood sugar and cut out all rise, potatoes, bread, crackers, cake, beer, soft drinks, sugar, etc. I began to notice how much better I felt without these foods and started following a "6/12/12" carb intake regimine for my 3 main meals that I learned about from Bernstein's book The Diabetic Diet. I learned to use supplements such as chromium, l-glutamine, and alpha lipoic acid to lower elevated blood sugar.... Started eating regular high protein snacks-- beef jerky, softboiled eggs, etc.Along with this I learned to cure myself of allergies which contribute to depression and brain fog by healing my leaky gut by improving my gut flora. Candida Albicans is a bad bacteria that can take over your intestinal tract causing many problems including gut dysbiosis- a condition where you don't properly absorb the nutrients from your food and which allows undigested food particles to escape from the gut into the blood and brain where they can cause brainfog and lethargy that can cause you to reach for carbs because they cause a release of serotonin, the feel good neurotransmitter. All of these goes together---- To lose weight you have to cure yourself of hypoglycemia, and eliminate gut dysbiosis. You have to get blood sugar into balance by stopping fast acting carbs and increasing protein and good fat. You have to improve gut flora via probiotics and by eating foods rich in good bacteria such as saurkraut and kimchi---- see Gut and Psychology Syndrome- a book by Natasha Campbell McBride, MD
